Psoriasis Flares
Sometimes psoriasis can suddenly become worse or ‘flare up’ without any obvious reason. There is usually a cause for this (“a trigger”) and it is helpful to try to identify those triggers that cause your psoriasis to flare up.
You may find flare-ups happen in particular situations or you may recognise certain triggers that make it worse. These can include stress, drinking excessive alcohol, smoking and some medicines such as lithium or beta-blockers. The frequency of flare-ups varies between people.
If you experience flare-ups regularly, arrange to see your healthcare team who will be able to give you advice on how to recognise the triggers and can help you manage your condition and find a treatment regimen that works best for you.
