Who does AS affect?
AS occurs in both men and women, but is more common in men. Symptoms however can vary between both sexes.
In Men:
- The spine and pelvis are more likely to be affected than other areas
- The chest wall, hips, shoulders and feet may also be affected
In Women:
- AS may present with milder symptoms, but can still result in considerable pain
- The symptoms more commonly present in joins of the fingers, wrists and ankles
- The pelvis, hips, and knees, can also be affected
